About
Dr. Lucia Cardenas, PhD
Welcome! I’m Lucia, and I’m a bilingual Licensed Psychologist (PSY32974) in the state of California. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, adults, and parents, and I serve clients in both Ventura and Los Angeles Counties. I earned my Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Oregon in Eugene, OR and completed my predoctoral internship at Providence Saint John’s Child and Family Development Center in Santa Monica, CA. I then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at UCLA in the department of pediatrics at TIES for Families.
I have worked in a variety of clinical settings including community mental health, children’s hospitals, and private practice. I have extensive experience providing evidence-based therapy to children, adolescents, and adults in both English and Spanish. I have also worked with a diverse group of clients with regard to ethnicity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and age. I now work with children, adolescents, and adults. I am dedicated to providing tailored, evidence-based psychological treatment for each client.
My practice reflects my belief in the power of finding one’s own agency, voice, and purpose. I aim to create a warm and safe space for clients to share their feelings and struggles, as well as to enhance their relationships with themselves, others, and the world around them. Through a non-judgmental and meaningful therapeutic relationship, my hope is that clients feel less alone with what they carry and are able to talk about their concerns and emotional experiences in order to improve their overall well-being. Whether experiencing anxiety, depression, or life transitions, I hold space for and work collaboratively with clients to find tools that best fit their needs.
